There’s a debate going on between Cameron Count officials and District Judge J. Roland Olvera Jr.
It has to do with the installation of a shower in the judge’s chambers that was never approved by Commissioners’ Court.
County officials claim Olvera asked that shower be installed.
Olvera maintains county workers took it upon themselves to install the shower.
Here’s the question, how did talk of installing a shower come up?
Was it during the planning phase? During a walk through of the chambers?
Whenver it was, it didn’t sit well with Commissioners’ Court and the shower was immediately removed.
That’s one mess that’s been cleaned. One has to wonder if there are any more out there.

You don’t have to sit in court very long to find out that at times there is animosity between defense attorneys and state prosecutors.
There the looks and glares and then the cocky remarks.
Such was the case at a recent court hearing for accused child killer John Allen Rubio Jr.
Before the hearing, attorneys on both sides traded jabs.
On one had, you had the state commenting on a book read by a defense attorney titled ‘How to Win A Case.”
He more or less questioned if this was how the defense was searching for a defense for Rubio.
The defense attorney replied that instead of watching “Law and Order” the state prosecutors should try and read the book too. They might learn something from them.
Or course, all this back and forth went on before the judge walked.
Just which side won this courtroom duel? It was a tie…for now.

When a web story gets more than 1,800 comments on it, one has to wonder if they are acutal comments or just people adding spam.
For those who don’t know, a comment is writing something about what the story is about.
Spamming a story, is writing numbers or letters in the comment just to keep the story as a top read or comment one.
Legitimate comments are good, spamming is just darn bad.
Think about it -which do you do.

It seems that the number of candidates running for Cameron County Pct. 2 Commissioner continues to grow. So far, the list includes Dr. Enrique Escobedo, Leo Garza, Pastor Victor Alvarez - at least these are the ones who have officially announced.
The unofficial candidates are Ernie Hernandez and current Commissioner John Wood, who has yet to announce.
Then, there’s the report that a current city commissioner, but soon to be out of office, could announce.
The outcome should be interesting.

The race for Cameron County Commissioner Precinct 2 is now a three man race.
Two additional candidates have announced their intentions to run for the position currently held by incubment John Wood.
If all plan to run as Democrats - we are already looking at a run-off, unless one candidate can get 50 plus 1 vote.
This will be one of many interesting county races to watch.
The other will be the race for county judge. Incumbent Carlos H. Cascos has already said he’s in it again. Waiting for other candidates to come forward with the same intentions.

Although the resolution was tabled, it got the attention of the Department of Homeland Security.
The DHS said there were inaccuracies in the resolution.
Left to be answered is if they DHS is correct, just who put the inaccuracies in the resolution.

Newly appointed Border Czar Alan Bersin made an appearance in the Valley that few indviduals were privy too.
He stopped in Harlingen, Brownsville and Hidalgo County on Friday in which he met with some local officials and federal authorities.
He talked about border security and touched on a few plans under way. Bersin even got to experience truck and car traffic actually whisking through a bridge in the middle of a city.
Bersin said he’s been in the Valley before and County Judge Carlos H. Casos says it won’t be the last visit.
One has to wonder if there will a larger pool of local officials present during the next visit.
