Former Cameron County District Attorney Yolanda De Leon escaped a media circus on Wednesday.
She went to the Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center where she was arraigned and processed on charges of tampering with governmental records and aggravated perjury charges where she entered a not guilty plea.
She went to the jail a day earlier than scheduled.
De Leon was in and out of the county jail in about 30 minutes before the media became aware of the incident.
This is a completely different from what happened to former County Auditor Mark Yates who arrested at his county office and handcuffed.
Yates was dressed in a orange jumpsuit and was arraigned while the media watched on.
Some criticized the way the county handled the Yates case.
One wonders if the county will be criticized again for the way it handled De Leon’s case.

I think you have missed the real question here…What would have happened to “Joe Blow” , the average guy in these cases? That is the real question.
Would the “Man off the street” been allowed to come in early and miss all the news media? You know the answer. Yates was not a lawyer, and “joe blow” off the street is not a lawyer, so they all do the perp walk in a orange jumpsuit. Joe Blow sits around in his Orange jumpsuit and waits until the Lawyers and the Judge are good and ready to process them. But a wormy lawyer like De leon, standing before a wormy Judge (who is a wormy lawyer) gets to walk into court early, in street clothes, and walk then out before the media gets there. You wait and see…The Judge will allow each side to postpone this until it is forgotten about, and then all the charges will be dropped, Just like the DUI cases against judges and lawyers in Cameron and Hidalgo counties, it will disappear. These worms take care of thier own.
