County Pulse ~ Monitoring Cameron County Government

Wild in Willacy

Things have gotten wild in Willacy and the wildness has trickled down to Cameron County.

Two Cameron County state districts judges were indicted on allegations of abuse of power.

One of the Judges is Migdalia Lopez who also oversees the State District Court in Willacy County.

With strong, hard feelings between Lopez and Willacy County District Attorney Juan Guerra, other judges and district attorneys will have to handle the cases there.

The judges plus vice president Dick Cheney and former U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales were also indicted on other charges.

The interesting question is where did Juan Guerra find 12 jury members to indict these public officials and are the indictments legitimate or just a “political vendetta” by a disgruntled soon to be ousted district attorney.

People in Willacy County are amused by the happenings. They haven’t seen this much commotion since Guerra and his farm animals planted themselves outside the jail there.

Yep, it’s wild in Willlacy and it’s not about the birds.
