At least one Catholic Church in Brownsville is asking Catholics to attend Tuesday’s Cameron County Commissioners meeting.
The group is asked to protest the county’s proposed decision not to use tobacco settlement money for indigent care.
The wording in one church bulletin about the county’s agenda item has been reworked to possibly rile the people. It’s completely different from what is listed on the county’s actual agenda.
The one in the church bulletin reads “The Court is attempting not to honor the commitment it made to our parishoners in Cameron County who signed over 6,000 petitions.”
So, is this a prediction? The stretching of the truth or an accidential misinterpretation of what is actually on the bulletin?
Who knows, but it could probably be standing room only at Tuesday’s meeting.
Whose says the rumbling only happens at the city meetings.
