County Pulse ~ Monitoring Cameron County Government

Just how many more are there?

It seems like it’s just about every other day - okay once every two weeks - that we hear of another lawmen being busted for committing some type of illegal activity.

On Tuesday, former DPS trooper Jesus Rafael Larrazolo was sentenced to more than 7 years in federal prison for dealing cocaine.

The big question is what in the heck are these lawmen doing?

They make well above minimum wage- actually they make  a heck of a lot more money that you average Joe.

As far as I know, the state hasn’t cut the working hours of state troopers nor has the federal government asked CBP officers to take furloughs.

So, are these badge carriers trying to keep up the Joneses or what?

You can pretty much bet that Larrazolo probably won’t be the last lawmen to get busted.

Maybe  they’d better think twice about keeping up with the Joneses, Garcias or whatever you want to call them.

And maybe when they are thinking about becoming dirty, the song “I Always Feel Like Somebody’s Watching Me” will pop in their minds.

Unfortunately, a good majority of these New lawmen had their minds made up of being corrupt before they ever pinned a badge on.
Just a little over 20 yrs ago, the Border Patrol had about 2500 agents. Now with the big push to add numbers as fast as possible, there are well over 20,000 agents. Agents are showing up at the academy with tatoo’s on their necks and full sleeves of tat’s. They look like cholo’s in uniform. BP agents are being cuaght in record numbers smuggling aliens, drugs and sometimes even doing it in their govt rigs.
It has nothing to do with keeping up with the Jones’s, these guys were counting the dollars in their heads while they applied online to become an agent. What is nice , that the greedy taste the big bucks and keep taking chances. Eventually they will get caught or somebody from Mexico that has smuggled using an agent , will turn on the agent the second they are caught.
And the same thing can be said with almost all the different police agencies along the border, feds, state, county and city cops all get caught up in the lure of easy money.
Hopefully sometime in the near future, Mexican soldiers will take back the streets and mountains are destroy the cartels.
