County Pulse ~ Monitoring Cameron County Government

Transferring Out?

November 19th, 2009, 10:08 am · 1 Comment · posted by lmartinez

It seems like it’s  pretty much  a no brainer.

Cameron County Commissioners’ Court has no choice but to transfer nearly 100 inmates to Brooks County in order to hold up its agreement with the Feds.

Come Friday, some 96 inmates will make a nearly 166 mile trip to Falfurrias, which will be their home for the next few months. Okay, maybe 10 months.

Sure the county will have to dish out $130,000 plus per month to Brooks County for housing the inmates. However, if they manage to get the goverment to transfer 300 federals inmates to Cameron County, the county will end up with a good chunk of change.

So who’s going to tell the families of these inmates they are being shipped out?

The inmates themselves. Yikes.

Wow, should be some interesting dialogue there.

After that, the inmates will probably be glad that they are transferring out.

Yes, some inmates are absolutely glad they were tranferred out of this HELL HOLE, anywhere, but Cameron County jails. Some times I wonder if our “wondering” Sheriff knows what’s going on in his jails. He really, really needs to retire.
